Picholine Olive Harvest
The Olive Harvest covers our 8 acres of 140 year old Picholine Olive trees. Typically it takes place during mid to late November. Quantity is increasing from previous years and the quality looks to be excellent. In the effort to boost productivity, in Spring 2007, we did a hard pruning of the olive trees, which looked pretty drastic in the beginning. Since then though, they have come back with a very lush recovery and a much nicer shape. We left the event area trees tall for shade, and trimmed the height of the remaining 8 acres of trees which allowed the harvest to go easier. Due to our pruning efforts we should be experiencing larger crops in the coming years. As yields grow, we will be able to expand distribution from sales only at the winery and website, to a limited number of stores. All in all, it looks to be a very promising year for our Olive Hill Estate Picholine Oil. And we are really encouraged that the next years will be good as well.
Please come and enjoy the olive oils and vinegars, and the ambiance that is created by the 140 year old Picholine Olive trees and our vineyards. Olive Hill is a special place and we encourage everyone to experience it here at B.R. Cohn Winery.
